What do these counters do?
Placing counters on your eBay auction items allows you to monitor interest in your items. You can see which items are popular and which are not. The latter could be due to a poorly worded description, listing in an inappropriate category or an off-putting starting price! Of course these aren't the only reasons but without some feedback on the level of interest in your items you won't know any different! If you only get 2 or 3 hits on an item then either no-one wants it (an unlikely situation on eBay!) or there is something wrong with your description, whereas if you get 300 hits but still no bids then you probably have an inappropriate starting price!

These counters count visitors to your auctions so you can see how many people are interested and at what time of day they are looking - you can then adjust your schedule so your items finish at the optimum time. You can try slightly different descriptions or categories and see if you get more hits which, hopefully, also means more sales!

We can't tell you the answers but we can give you some very useful market analysis.
Back
Why have you created these counters?
Like you, we sell our items on eBay and we are were getting increasingly frustrated at the poor performance and unreliability of the existing auction counters available.

We looked around for an alternative but we couldn't find a free honesty-style counter that works with eBay auctions (there are many counters that track web sites but these will not work with eBay). So we decided to create our own (we have over 25 years experience in the computer industry).
Back
Do I have to install anything on my PC?
No - all the software runs on our servers. Other than inserting a small piece of web-code (which we supply) into each of your eBay auction items you do not install anything on your own PC.

What are the various levels of service?
We have 3 levels of service:

Bronze - these counters are provided by our affiliates (e.g. The Poster Toaster). This is the basic and unmanaged counter service. A counter will be displayed on your eBay auction items but you have no control over the look of your counters and you cannot see any statistical information on when people have been looking at your auctions. (You cannot sign-up for this service direct; it is only provided by our affiliates).

Silver - this is the standard, managed service. You can customise the look of your counters by changing the size, font and colour of the displayed counter. You can display a list of all your counters together with their bid prices and high bidder information. You can also display graphs showing just when your hits were received so you can see when is the best time to list your auctions. There is no limit to the number of counters you can have running at the same time but you can only view up to 30 counters at any given time.

Gold - this is aimed at people with many auctions and/or people who want to manage their auctions better. As well as providing more information on items you are selling you can filter the displays and graphs to just show particular items and compare items against each other. There is no limit to the number of counters you can have running at the same time and there is no limit to the number of counters viewable.

(Click here for a table showing the differences between the levels of service.)

How much does this cost?
The Bronze and Silver service levels are free. The Gold service costs just $14.99 / £9.99 / ¤11.99 per quarter. If you have 10 new auctions every day that works out to just over 1.5 cents per auction. Looked at another way - if the information provided by these counters helps you to sell just 1 extra item per month it will probably pay for itself and then any additional items are extra profit straight into your pocket!
Back
I thought these counters were free?
We still offer a free counters service (i.e. 'Silver' level). This service allows you to display statistical information on up to 30 counters at any time. Counts and graphs are included free.

All we ask is that you have a link to our site underneath your counter. All other counter providers do this and it is allowed by eBay. Of course, you may feel you would like to make a contribution to the costs of maintaining the service in which case you may make a donation using PayPal. We would stress such a donation is entirely up to you and you will still get access to 30 free counters and free statistics just the same if you do not want to pay a penny.
Back
Why are you charging for the service?
To protect the long-term sustainability of the service it's necessary to generate some revenue for the future purchase of new hardware. We are currently recording over 100,000 counter hits per day for our users - this is well within the current operational limits of the computers but it is prudent to plan for the upgrades that will be required in the future.
Back
Does my subscription include free upgrades?
Yes all upgrades are automatically included.
Back
How do I sign-up?
Click the 'Sign Up' button on the front page and then click to create a new account.
Back
Why do you want to know where I live?
We will use your details and data on how many counters you use to help manage the counters service and improve the way we run it. It will help us to understand how people are using the counters and improve our service.

All your information will be held securely using encryption where appropriate and we will not pass on your details to anyone else for marketing purposes (we are based in the UK and are subject to the UK's Data Protection Act.)
Back
When will my account become active?
You can use your account as soon as you complete the sign-up process. If you are subscribing to the Gold level of service then you will initially be registered at Silver level and your account will be upgraded to Gold level within 24 hours of us receiving your payment.
Back
What's the minimum term?
There is no minimum term but you pay for the Gold service quarterly in adavance. You can cancel at any time but no refund will be made for unused time.
Back
How do I cancel my account?
Simply send us an email requesting the cancellation of your account and we will delete your information. This really deletes all of your information and we will not be able to get back any of your old information if you subsequently change your mind!
Back
Will the counters be available when I need them?
We will use our best endeavours to ensure the counts are accurate and to ensure the availability of the computer server hosting your counters.
